The Nominating Committee of ANA-Ohio is a standing committee of the ANA-Ohio. It is comprised of seven members elected at-large; three members are elected for a two-year term in the odd years and four members are elected for a two-year term in the even years.

The responsibilities of the ANA-Ohio Nominating Committee can be found in the ANA-Ohio Bylaws, Article V.

The nomination deadline has been extended to 12:00PM, ET, Wednesday, July 24, 2024If there are elective positions with insufficient nominations, the nominating committee will repeat a request for nominations.

Qualifications/Competencies of First Vice President

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Current ANA-Ohio membership
  2. Demonstrated prior active involvement or participation with ANA; ANA’s C/SNAs; or the IMD;
  3. Prior experience as a chair on a board/committee
  4. Prior leadership or governance experience.
  5. Familiarity with the ANA-Ohio Bylaws and other Association policies.
  6. Basic knowledge of parliamentary law and procedures.
  7. Not concurrently serve as an officer or director of another organization, if such participation might result in a conflict of interest with ANA-Ohio; and
  8. Not concurrently employed by an organization if such employment might result in a conflict of interest with ANA-Ohio.

COMPETENCIES FOR SERVICE ON THE ANA-Ohio BOARD OF DIRECTORS

  1. Governance: Demonstrated understanding of the difference between governance and management.
  2. Organizational Awareness and Commitment: Demonstrated experience within Nursing organizations and with ANA- Ohio.
  3. Financial Acumen: Ability to interpret financial statements.
  4. Strategic and Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex concepts, develop creative solutions, and/or evaluate decisions to enable the organization to achieve long-term objectives.
  5. Change Leadership: Demonstrated ability to influence others and implement change.
  6. Diversity and Inclusion: Values diversity and cultural dexterity with a strong commitment to creating an inclusive environment within ANA-Ohio.

ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES FOR SERVICE AS THE ANA-Ohio 1st VICE PRESIDENT

The Vice President must be prepared at all times to assume the role of the ANA-Ohio President; therefore, the additional competencies mirror those for service as the ANA-Ohio President.

  1. Spokesperson: Demonstrated ability to speak publicly and in the media, conveying an organization’s message in a compelling manner.
  2. Governance Leadership: Experience serving as the chair of a board

TME COMMITMENT The following is an estimate of time spent in fulfilling the duties of this position:

  1. One 2-hour Virtual Meeting monthly (see below: intend to schedule a face to face six-hour meeting/retreat/strategic planning quarterly) for ANA-Ohio Board of Directors meetings and other committee meetings held in conjunction with the board meetings; 2-3 hours per month reading materials and board reports from ANA-Ohio
  2. Additional days per year, if you attend the ANA-Ohio Membership Assembly meeting, other ANA-Ohio committee meetings and pre-and post-board meetings.
  3. Quarterly face to face all day ANA-Ohio retreats/ strategic planning meetings.

  6. Basic knowledge of parliamentary law and procedures
  7. Not concurrently serving as an officer or director of another organization, if such participation might result in a conflict of interest with ANA or ANA-Ohio; and
  8. Not concurrently employed by an organization if such employment might result in a conflict of interest with ANA or ANA-Ohio.

  1. Ability to track income and expenses, process invoices, and maintain monthly balance sheet.
  2. Coordinate with the organization’s CPA to assure compliance with tax regulations and required documentation.
  3. Broad understanding of financial management and budgeting principles.
  4. Commitment to accuracy, timeliness, and transparency.
  5. Ability to analyze and take risks.
  6. Willingness to ask questions.

TME COMMITMENT The following is an estimate of time spent in fulfilling the duties of this position:        

  1. QUALIFICATIONS

  2. Demonstrated prior active involvement or participation within ANA-Ohio or other professional Nursing Organization
  3. Prior Board/committee experience.
  4. Prior leadership or governance experience.
  5. Familiarity with the ANA-Ohio Bylaws and other Association policies.
  6. Basic knowledge of parliamentary law and procedures.
  7. Not concurrently serve as an officer or director of another organization, if such participation might result in a conflict of interest with ANA-Ohio; and
  8. Not currently employed by an organization if such employment might result in a conflict of interest with ANA-Ohio.

Qualifications of member of Nominating and Elections Committee

  1. Current ANA-Ohio membership.
  2. Demonstrated prior active involvement or participation with nursing organizations, for example: ANA, State Nursing Association, or other nursing organizations.
  3. Not concurrently serving as an officer or director of another organization if such participation might result in a conflict of interest with ANA-Ohio.
  4. Prior experience ensuring proper conduct of elections and reporting results to the membership of an organization would be helpful, but not required.
  5. Prior knowledge of election processes would be helpful, but not required.

TIME COMMITMENT: All meetings will be via Zoom.  There will be less than 10 meetings/year (1-2 hours/each).  Additional time recruiting candidates as needed.

It is expected that members encourage voting and participation in the Candidates Forum.



Expectations/Qualifications/Competencies of ANA-Ohio Representative to ANA Membership Assembly

Description of Role and Responsibilities

What is the ANA Membership Assembly?

The Membership Assembly is the governing and official voting body of ANA. It shall identify and discuss issues of concern to members and provide direction to the ANA Board of Directors. The Membership Assembly provides stewardship for the profession through the creation of policy and positions that support the purposes of ANA. The Membership Assembly shall not have the authority to create standing or ad hoc committees, boards, councils, work groups, or professional issues panels.

Who comprises the ANA Membership Assembly?

A total of 200 representatives, including two representatives elected from each C/SNA and the IMD, and an additional number of representatives elected from each C/SNA and the IMD in accordance with the apportionment policy applicable to representation at the Membership Assembly, reflecting the proportional dues payment made to ANA by the C/SNAs and the IMD, up to a total 200 representatives.

ANA-Ohio will have a minimum of two (2) representatives on the ANA Membership Assembly.

When does the ANA Membership Assembly meet?

The ANA Membership Assembly meets once/year, ordinarily.  However, additional meetings can be called by the President with at least a 90-day notice for in-person meetings.

Is this meeting virtual or in-person?

The ANA Membership Assembly will be in-person.

What is the responsibility of a representative to the ANA Membership Assembly from Ohio?

You will serve as the ANA-Ohio Representative to the ANA Membership Assembly from January 01, 2025 – December 31, 2026.

The representative will receive materials ahead of time to review.  The responsibility is to attend all sessions including virtual sessions held prior to the Assembly and arrive completely prepared to discuss and vote on all issues presented at the Assembly as a representative of ANA-Ohio and their interests.

It will also be your responsibility to provide your own transportation to Washington DC and to the meetings and secure your lodging/food (many of the meals are included with registration to the MA).  You will receive some reimbursement from ANA, which is to be determined.

What qualifications are needed to be a representative?

The representative must be elected by their C/SNA according to the C/SNA policies

The representative will need to have a good understanding of the history and activities of ANA-Ohio.

The representative will need to be an active member participating in the BOD, or one of the committees.

The representative will need to be comfortable speaking regarding issues being presented.

The representative will need to have a working knowledge of Parliamentary Procedure.

The representative will need to have a general understanding of the organizational structure of ANA and its mission.
